World Beach Day: Welcome Back to the Beach!
Date Posted:Mon, 31st Aug 2026
As summer draws to a close and families settle back into Dubai, there’s plenty to look forward to - cooler mornings, longer days outdoors and, of course, the return of beach season!
With September being World Beach Month, it’s the perfect time to think about what makes our beaches such an important part of life in the UAE - and how we can all enjoy them safely, confidently and responsibly.
For us at Ocean Warriors, the beach is much more than somewhere to spend a Saturday morning or a Friday evening. It’s a classroom, a playground, a place to build confidence and a community where children and adults can develop skills that could one day save a life.
🌊 A new Ocean Warriors season begins!
After our summer break, we’re incredibly excited to get back on the beach for a brand-new Ocean Warriors season.
Our new term begins on 11 September, with programmes for everyone from our youngest Waterbabies aged 3–4, through Nippers aged 4–11, Junior Lifeguards aged 12–18, as well as adult members.
Whether your child is returning for another season or has never tried surf lifesaving before, there is plenty to discover.
Sessions combine water safety education with fun, practical activities including beach games, board paddling, surf skis, ocean swimming, rescue techniques, first aid, fitness and teamwork. As children progress, they can also work towards internationally recognised lifesaving qualifications and develop skills that support future volunteering, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, competition and potential lifeguarding pathways.
🏖️ Back to the beach, back to the basics
As we return to the water, September is also a good time for every family to refresh the basics.
Take a moment to check the beach flags and conditions before getting in, know where the lifeguards are, keep children actively supervised and make sure everyone understands what to do if they get into difficulty.
And remember that being a strong swimmer is only one part of being safe in and around water. Understanding currents, recognising hazards, knowing your limits and being able to respond calmly are all essential water safety skills.
These are exactly the skills we aim to build at Ocean Warriors - helping children become not only more confident in the water, but more aware, responsible and capable around it.
