Middle East Conflict: Impact on Energy

We are continuing to closely monitor developments in the Middle East and the impact of higher energy costs. We are regularly in contact with the government and Ofgem to discuss the impact that the conflict is having on businesses.

 

Actions we've taken:

  • We have called on the government to ensure that businesses have access to up-to-date guidance with energy bills, to help them make informed decisions about their arrangements.
  • To bring down the cost of energy for firms, we have also called on the government to at least part-fund the cost of the Renewables Obligation on business energy bills, aligning support for firms with the relief provided to households in the Autumn Budget 2025. 

The government and Ofgem need insight on how the ongoing uncertainty is impacting businesses, alongside how businesses are engaging with energy suppliers.
