Perspective from the Frontline: Why the UAE Remains Safe and Why the Next 7–14 Days Matter
Date Posted:Fri, 6th Mar 2026
Over the past four years, I have worked on the frontline medical effort in Ukraine, delivering critical medical supplies and supporting advanced trauma training in environments where missiles and drones are a daily reality. That experience shapes how I assess risk.
From here in the UAE, the current assessment remains clear: based on available information, the personal level of risk in the UAE remains low compared with active conflict zones. At the same time, the UAE’s defence and national security systems are actively and effectively working to mitigate potential threats.
It is understandable that many people feel concerned. In fast-moving situations, alerts, social media updates, and messages from family abroad can quickly create uncertainty. One important reminder is that misinformation often spreads faster than verified facts. The best approach is to rely on official UAE channels, avoid sharing unverified information, and maintain healthy routines to protect mental wellbeing.
A key factor providing reassurance is the professionalism and capability of the UAE’s defence forces. Strong, coordinated national security systems play a vital role in protecting airspace and maintaining stability.
Looking ahead, the next 7–14 days may be particularly important, as this is often the period when geopolitical situations become clearer in terms of intent, capability, and political direction. The hope is that pragmatic decision-making and restraint prevail.
In the meantime, simple, sensible precautions are always worthwhile:
- Keep passports and Emirates IDs accessible
- Charge phones overnight and keep a flashlight nearby
- Familiarise yourself with emergency exits
- If an official alert sounds, move to an area away from windows or exterior walls if possible
These steps are simply practical preparedness rather than cause for alarm.
Final thought: Concern is human, and calm does not mean complacency. The UAE remains a safe place to be, supported by the professionalism and preparedness of its government and armed forces.
