On 26th January, the British Chamber of Commerce Dubai Business Team joined Kent College Dubai’s Careers Fair to share insights on career pathways, practical advice, and the evolving world of work with students from Years 10 to 13.
On 26th January, Katy Keenan, Lily Hunter, and Lesley Anne Smith from the British Chamber of Commerce Dubai (BCCD) Business Team attended the Kent College Dubai Careers Fair, meeting young students and discussing the realities of career pathways and the evolving world of work.
BCCD CEO Katy Keenan also joined a panel discussion alongside BCCD Board Member Emil McKenzie (Progeny) and Stephen Munnery, Owner of Viking Surf Sports, where the panellists shared their individual career journeys, what shaped their success, and practical advice for students navigating their next steps.
“ [Mondays'] in-school event was part of the wider BCCD Education Initiative bridging industry with education and reflecting our passion for better understanding how students think about their future. It was genuinely two-way: we learned a great deal from the students’ perspectives, and it was a pleasure to share practical advice, our own career journeys and a few honest lessons along the way. It's a privilege to play even a small role in shaping a young person’s next steps. My thanks to Greg, Kent College, and the students for hosting us so warmly and for the thoughtful questions,” said Katy Keenan.
The careers fair also provided students from Years 10 to 13 with the opportunity to engage directly with professionals, asking questions around university, internships, and alternative pathways, gaining clarity into the challenges and opportunities ahead.
As part of our BCCD Education & Industry Initiative, we are coordinating an internship programme to connect students with real workplace experience. We are now inviting businesses who would like to host students or explore internship placements to get involved.
