Dusit Thani Dubai Shines a Light on World Alzheimer’s Month

Dusit Thani Dubai reaffirms its commitment to community care and inclusivity as it joins the global observance of World Alzheimer’s Month this September.

On 1 September, the hotel will once again welcome seniors and care volunteers to NOLO at Dusit Thani Dubai for a heart-warming morning of crochet. Guided by Mrs. Suksham Aurora, participants will craft crochet bear coasters, thoughtful creations symbolising connection, compassion, and the importance of memories that matter.

In addition, throughout the month of September, the hotel’s iconic façade will be illuminated in purple, the international colour of Alzheimer’s awareness. The glowing tower will stand as a beacon of solidarity, honouring those living with Alzheimer’s, their loved ones, and the wider community working to build a kinder, more inclusive world.

“This initiative reflects our Care, Commit, Can Do pillars and Dusit Thani Dubai’s continued partnership with 4get-me-not,” said Prateek Kumar, Senior Vice President – Operations, Dusit Hotels and Resorts. “By creating meaningful moments with our seniors and visibly shining a light on Alzheimer’s awareness, we hope to inspire empathy, dialogue, and support across the community.”

“We are proud to say that Dusit Thani Dubai Hotel is the first in the UAE’s hospitality industry to honor seniors, Alzheimer’s patients, and their caregivers by lighting its iconic façade in "Purple" for World Alzheimer’s Month. This moment is especially nostalgic for us, as it took 12 years of persistence to make it happen — and Dusit was the first to answer the call. More than a symbolic gesture, it reflects a "glowing" commitment to being truly senior-friendly and caring for our cherished seniors,” said Desiree Vlekken, Founder of 4get-me-not Alzheimer's.

World Alzheimer’s Month, observed every September, is a global campaign led by Alzheimer’s Disease International to challenge stigma, raise awareness, and advocate for greater support for people living with dementia and their families.
