Lush Middle East Introduces Renamed Bath Bombs in Celebration of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics is highlighting its ongoing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)–values that sit at the heart of how the business operates, from people and policies to product.

This summer, three of Lush’s best-selling bath bombs will be renamed across regional shops to reflect these core principles:

  • Thermal Waves becomes Diversity
  • Sakura becomes Equity
  • American Cream becomes Inclusion

While recent developments in other parts of the world have seen DEI initiatives rolled back or removed entirely, Lush remains committed to creating spaces where everyone feels seen, heard and respected. These names reflect long-standing values already embedded in Lush’s Ethical Charter, from inclusive recruitment to fair representation and safe spaces for all.

“We stand in solidarity with all those people who have worked so hard to create these rights”, says Mark Constantine, Lush Co-Founder and CEO.

DEI in Action

Across the UAE, national conversations around equity and inclusive growth continue to gain momentum. Recent opinion pieces in Khaleej Times speak to the importance of building cultures of empathy and fairness, particularly in the workplace.

And the business case for diversity is well established. A 2023 McKinsey report found that companies in the top quartile for ethnic diversity are 39% more likely to outperform industry peers financially–a clear link between inclusive values and long-term success.

Lush’s approach embeds these principles into everyday business practices—from sourcing and recruitment to leadership and community engagement. To exemplify, in the UAE and Bahrain as of April 2024, the beauty brand is proud to have 36 different nationalities within the business, 82.40% of which are female, with 75.61% of those in managerial and senior leadership roles, including its Managing Director.

Regional Progress

In the Middle East, Lush continues to champion ethical business by investing in its people and policies. This includes inclusive training and growth programs for retail teams, accessible in-store experiences, and ongoing support for community events.

“These renamed products serve as everyday reminders of what we care about, having an inclusive workspace and business makes us stronger together”, says Anita Baker, Managing Director at Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics (UAE & Bahrain).

“Diversity, Equity, Inclusion—these are values we want to see more of in the world, and we’re proud to reflect them in our shops across the region.”
