Business Etiquette Advice for Ramadan

In case you are new to the Middle East (and not observing Ramadan) or would appreciate a reminder of how to be culturally sensitive towards Muslim colleagues, clients and contacts during this time.

🌙 Try to conduct meetings or calls earlier in the day. Avoid planning meetings in the afternoon.

🌙 Refrain from eating or drinking online or in-person with Muslim clients or colleagues who are fasting.

🌙 Dress and behave more modestly. Ladies, cover your shoulders during meetings.

🌙 Attend Iftars to strengthen business relationships. If invited, do your best to attend and enjoy the local hospitality.

🌙 Allow for adjusted working patterns to be mindful of colleagues who are fasting.

🌙 Wish your Muslim colleagues and clients Ramadan Kareem or Ramadan Mubarak.

🌙 Ramadan is also a time of giving. Consider participating in charitable activities to support the community!

Ramadan Kareem to all of our members and stakeholders who are observing the Holy Month, from the entire team at the British Chamber of Commerce Dubai (BCCD)!

Wishing you health, happiness, and prosperity!
