What on earth is a 'Third Culture Kid'?

Meet BCCD member, Alexandra Dewar, co-founder of Violet Rae, who recently spoke to Khaleej Times about her experience as a Third Culture Kid (TCK).

A TCK is someone who has lived in multiple cultures during their formative years, often feeling at home in several places but never fully fitting into any one culture.

Growing up in the Middle East (UAE and Saudi Arabia), Alexandra has also lived in New Zealand and the UK, and she is originally (and proudly) Scottish. Alexandra claims that embracing this identity has been a game-changer for her career.

Earlier this year, alongside her sister, Elizabeth, she launched 🟣 Violet Rae. Alexandra highlights how growing up among 200+ nationalities taught them the importance of adaptability and the power of diverse perspectives, and these experiences enable them to create brands that genuinely connect with diverse audiences.

For any parents who may be concerned about how moving around the world might impact their children, Alexandra talks about how these experiences help kids build a unique skill set that will serve them well in life.
