The Road to COP28 – Edition 7
Date Posted:Thu, 30th Nov 2023
COP28 opens this week. It is crucial that we keep global warming to 1.5C and to take the chance at COP28 to deliver real progress against that goal. The UK’s ongoing leadership is evident from our strong presence, including His Majesty The King, the PM and a wide ranging UK delegation travelling to “Unite, Act, Deliver” on climate action in Dubai.
The UAE are well positioned to drive ambitious outcomes and action from the public sector as well as the private sectors and have designed the Summit - the biggest in their history, and probably the biggest COP - to maximise this. The UK’s business community will be well represented at COP28 , showcasing UK leadership and acting as catalysts for global transformation on this critical agenda. Sponsors for the UK Pavilion at COP28 like Bankers4Net Zero and Reckitt are exemplars of this. A full list of companies that are involved in the business hubs in the green zone can be found Climate Innovators (cop28.com).
The British Embassies in the UAE, working with the Department of Business and Trade (DBT) have a strong track-record of backing the green industries. The UAE and the UK are already major contributors in each other's Net Zero journey and I see that partnership expanding, so please do get in touch if you think we can support something you are working on in the UAE.
COP28 will be unrivalled platform for showcasing innovative solutions, fostering international collaboration, and driving ambitious climate commitments. My team and I look forward to seeing you there and in the associated events whenever possible.
