As a rule, Free Zone businesses are not permitted to trade directly with mainland companies in Dubai and the UAE mainland. However, all Meydan Free Zone companies can work and trade with other free zone companies and companies in the Dubai mainland and outside of the UAE with a Dubai Economy and Tourism Department (DET) Permit for their trade license in Dubai.

With the DET permit, all Meydan Free Zone companies can also open an office anywhere in Dubai without restrictions while enjoying the benefits of a free zone. Under this structure, Meydan has partnered with DET to include 44 activities that can issue licenses from the Meydan Free Zone but legally work with mainland companies and register a physical space anywhere in Dubai without restrictions.

The number of visas issued under such a company depends on the office size. All visas are valid for two years and include all benefits of the free zone, such as integrated services of leasing, investor/partner visas for shareholders, and employment visas for employees, without having to deal with Ejari and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).

The UAE's introduction of a corporate tax regime, effective from 1 June 2023, may appear dilution in its appeal to foreign investors.
