This year marks the 26th annual “Conference of the Parties” (COP) summit, commonly known as COP26. Each year the UN hosts this summit to bring together world leaders, negotiators, businesses, government officials and citizens to discuss climate change. Climate change is a global priority and many experts agree that COP26 has a unique urgency this year.
Critical decisions must be made in alignment to these 4 goals for COP26:
1. Secure global net zero by mid-century and keep 1.5 degrees within reach
2. Adapt to protect communities and natural habitats
3. Mobilise at least $100bn in climate finance per year
4. Work together to accelerate action and tackle the climate crisis through collaboration between governments, businesses and civil society
So, what role do you have in COP26?
Remember that YOU are integral in supporting the health of our planet. We need to come together as a global community to save our shared home.
• As consumers you can choose to support businesses which are doing their part in sustainability.
• As a business, you can review your practices & supply chain to see where environment friendly solutions can be implemented
• On a personal level try to stay informed about what actions you can take such as: eliminating single use items, taking public transport when you can and supporting locally sourced products. There are so many more, but it is often easiest start with 1 thing and expand from there.
If each of the 8 billion people in the world took action, imagine how quickly positive change would happen!

A growing number of businesses in UAE are switching to filtered drinking water to reduce carbon emissions and eliminate single use plastic bottles. This is a recent installation of a sleek filtration unit in the Dubai Estee Lauder Head Office.
