New scholarship celebrates prospective Primary and Secondary students who demonstrate a genuine passion for environmental leadership, sustainability and positive action.
Arbor School has announced the launch of its new Arborist Scholarship, a pioneering scholarship programme designed to recognise and nurture young people who demonstrate a genuine passion for environmental and ecological issues.
Open to prospective Primary and Secondary students joining the school, the Arborist Scholarship is one of the first initiatives of its kind in the UAE, recognising environmental leadership alongside more traditional scholarship pathways in academics, sport and the arts.
The scholarship reflects Arbor School's long-standing commitment to environmental education and follows the school's recognition as the World's Best School for Environmental Action.
George Spurling, Assistant Headteacher for Enrichment and Academic Excellence at Arbor School, said:
"At Arbor, we believe scholarship is about more than recognising achievement. It's about identifying potential, nurturing talent and creating opportunities for young people to make a meaningful contribution to the world around them. The Arborist Scholarship reflects everything that makes Arbor unique by celebrating students who demonstrate initiative, environmental awareness and a genuine commitment to creating positive change."
Unlike conventional scholarship programmes, the Arborist Scholarship has been designed to identify students based not solely on academic achievement, but on their passion for environmental stewardship, initiative and potential to make a meaningful contribution within their communities and beyond.
Successful applicants will join a school where sustainability is embedded throughout both the curriculum and campus. From its biodomes and living campus to its pioneering Ecological and Environmental Education (E3) curriculum, Arbor provides students with opportunities to explore real-world environmental challenges while developing the knowledge, skills and confidence to become future changemakers.
Euan Riddell, Assistant Headteacher for Ecological and Environmental Education (E3), added:
"The Arborist Scholarship recognises young people who care deeply about people, place and planet. We're looking for students who ask thoughtful questions, demonstrate curiosity and show a willingness to take action. Our role is to nurture that potential, providing opportunities for students to grow as environmental advocates, leaders and changemakers."
The scholarship offers awards of up to 25% of annual tuition fees and is open exclusively to prospective Primary and Secondary students joining Arbor School. Families are invited to complete a simple online application, including a personal statement outlining the student's interest in environmental or ecological issues. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to an online interview before supporting school reports are requested.
By introducing the Arborist Scholarship, Arbor School continues to strengthen its position as a leader in environmental education, creating opportunities for young people whose values align with the school's mission to inspire positive action for people, place and planet.
Applications for the Arborist Scholarship are now open. Further information, including the Scholarship Candidate Pack and online application form, is available on the Arbor School website.
