Saudi Arabia: Regional HQ Programme - sponsored by Fragomen

Since 2019, any event that we run with Saudi in the title can fill a ballroom and that’s exactly what happened yesterday! Our thanks to Saudi Regional Headquarters Programme and company set up experts Fragomen for sponsoring the event and for sharing the latest information on the RHQ Programme and talent mobility insights in the region.

Haider Hussain and Kevin Crasto provided great transparency and clarity on the RHQ programme and were able to answer the audience’s questions and concerns - having their own experience of setting up in Riyadh and spending half their time in KSA. There was a great crowd of interest after the event for Fragomen!

Joining Haider and Kevin on the panel were Ryan Tagg Commercial Director at Hays who quickly dispelled the myths of “double / triple salary” incentives sharing that there is greater regulation and even salary caps to improve and provide greater security in the recruitment market for the employers.

Dr Rizwan Hamid from King's College Hospital London – UAE who joined the panel remotely from Jeddah spoke candidly about the risks versus rewards and challenges of setting up a hospital in terms of staffing and qualification attestation. Dr Rizwan also spoke of the growth plans for KCH across the region and that great healthcare is so key to FDI and talent attraction.

The panelists - moderated by BBG Deputy Chair Helen Barrett - gave the following advice to those looking at KSA:

- do your research and due diligence
- start the attestation process as soon as possible for your candidates
- don’t underestimate the costs for setting up, fitting out an office and the cost to recruit (particularly hiring expats)
- allow time and patience for liaising with each government entity

Thanks to host voco® Dubai, an IHG Hotel and the members from the Swedish Business Council in the UAE who attended
